Noah Byrd just wants to prove he is on of the guys, so he joins a boyfriend borrowing club.
The Borrow A Boyfriend Club is a debut young adult novel by Page Powars. Noah Byrd has just transferred schools and wants nothing more than to prove he is the perfect boy to his new classmates, his parents, and himself.
When he goes to join an Italian Club, he learns its secretly a front for a 'Borrow A Boyfriend' club, that is run by handsome but standoffish Asher Price.
Asher is just trying to prove to the school, and himself, that he can run the club as well as his brother Sebastian did.
When Noah fails the first part of the interview process for the club, he makes a deal with Asher. Noah will teach the club members a dance that will help them win a talent show, where the prize money could be the exact thing the club needs to stay afloat. If he can bring how a win to for the club, he will be given a second to get into the club.
While planning this dance, Noah also has to romance Asher and prove to him that Noah can be the perfect boyfriend the club needs. When Noah starts to develop feelings for Asher, and they share a kiss that wasn't meant to happen, he is suddenly fighting his own feelings. Since the number one rule of the Borrow a Boyfriend club is 'no real relationships'.
Borrow a Boyfriend Club is a great debut novel. It has a few very really discussions about not only accepting the people around you, but also yourself. Throughout Noah's journey in the book, he finds that one of his biggest critics was actually himself. The other members of the club, who quickly become his friends, have no issues with Noah's story, accepting him for who he is right away. Behind the scenes of his life with the club, Noah is also working to get his name legally changed, to try to see if that will help his parents call him by 'Noah' instead of 'N'.
I overall enjoyed the story within this book, and the lessons that are learned by each of the characters. There is a lot for both Asher and Noah to learn about themselves and each other.
A solid 4-4.5/5 star read for me.
The book is scheduled to come out September 12, 2023.
