It's your last day in London and you've learned two things. One, the crown prince is missing, two, a comet is hurling through space towards Earth, and the world will end in 8 days.
Wren Wheeler just wants to please her parents, but after spending most of her Europe trip sick she decides to try to at least do one thing her sister recommended in London. That is until she find it closed, runs into a runway prince and then learns the world will end in 8 days.
In The Prince and The Apocalypse by Kara McDowell, we follow Wren as she bargains with the runaway Prince Theo while trying to make her way back to Chicago after it has been announced that the world will most likely be destroyed in 8 days by a comet.
Prince Theo and Wren have a complicated relationship, with him running from his responsibilities and her struggling with her dreams mixed with the expectations of her family back home in Chicago. Wren and Theo both struggle with the impending doom as well as figuring out what is the most important to them during this time. After making a agreement to help her get to a private jet in Santorini; Wren and Theo end up on a wild adventure of avoiding the press, as well as pretty much everyone in Europe who is searching for the prince.
They end up in France, Milan and eventually Greece. They dye their hair, get fake passports, kiss to avoid being spotted and get married (shock!).
This book was a fun adventure, with a fun twist ending (that may or may not have nothing to do with the comet.) It was a great ride and I'm excited to see what others think of it once it hits shelves! It was a 4/5 star read of me, and I hope to be able to share it with more people. Especially those who want something that feels warm while also having a mix of different circumstances impacting the characters.
The Prince and the Apocalypse hits shelves July 11, 2023!
