Books I'm Excited for in 2024!

One of the bright sides of deep diving into the bookish community is learning more about anticipated releases for the next year or getting early access to sequels that come out in the next year. This blog is dedicated to books I'm excited to read in the next year, though it will probably be front of the year heavy. I have ARCs of a few books coming out next year, which includes some of these, and I'm excited to get into them after the holidays.

Bride - Ali Hazelwood (Feb 7)

Ali Hazelwood dives into writing a paranormal story after spending time writing the steminist romance series.

This story follows Misery Lark, the daughter of a power Vampyre councilman, who finds herself an outcast. She has been living among the humans and is called to help with the peacekeeper alliance between the Vampyres and the Weres.

She must meet with their alpha, Lowe Moreland, who rules with authority. He has reasons to not trust Misery, but they both need this marriage of convenience. Misery has her own reasons to agree, to get back something that was hers, even if it means spending her life among the wolves.

Disciples of Chaos - M.K. Lobb (Feb 20)

This is the sequel to Seven Faceless Saints, which had to be one of my favorite books of 2023.

Damian and Rossana have to deal with the fallout after their success in the first novel. Damian feels himself falling apart from the inside out, like the city around him. Roz should feel victorious, having done exactly what she set out to do, but war threatens what they've worked for.

When a general arrives from the front lines and orders for their arrest they are shipped up north, still determined free the people that matter most they end up in a land of strange magic, where Damian seems to be straying further from himself.

I'm so excited to get into the ARC of this book!

We Got The Beat - Jenna Miller (Feb 20)

Jordan Elliot is a fat, nerdy lesbian who dreams to be the first junior to be named editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. When her best friend turned enemy humiliated her freshman year, she threw herself into journalism and kept her eyes trained on the future.

When Jordan learns that she is not editor-in-chief but she has been assigned to write about volleyball, her plans start to crumble. Her former best friend is the captain, and star, of the team.

As they are forced to spend time together, their friendship starts to return and maybe morph into something more. Jordan now has to figure out if she is willing to let her guard down again.

Every Time You Hear That Song - Jenna Voris (Apr 2)

Seventeen-year-old aspiring journalist Darren Purchase has been a lifelong fan of country music and specifically Decklee Cassel. Decklee is famous for her classic hits with songwriter Mickenlee Hopper, who is known for backing out of the limelight at the height of their careers.

When Decklee's funeral is televised, it means the unveiling of a time capsule that ends up empty. A trail of scavenger hunt like clues left behind, that has a large prize for anyone who can find the real capsule.

Darren is determined to be the one to find it, and she plans on writing about it, even if that means bringing along her coworker Kendall.

Written with flashbacks to Decklee's career, we see why Mickenlee and her may have run into issues and showing her what she's willing to sacrifice for her dreams.

The Familiar - Leigh Bardugo (Apr 9)

A sort of new book for Leigh, this book takes place during the Spanish Golden Age,

Luzia Cotado is a scullion, serving a family in the new captial of Madrid. Luzia is able to use bits of magic to make it through, but when her mistress finds out her secret she wants Luzia to use it to help the family.

Starting out just amusing nobility, Luzia then catches the eye of Antonio Perez, a disgrace secretary to the king. The king is now desperate to win the war against the heretic queen of England, and Antonio is willing to do anything to get back in his good graces. Luzia is then thrown into a deeper world of magic, where her life becomes further in danger.

Leigh Bardugo can write anything and I will read it, and I'm very excited for this.

The Hemlock Queen - Hannah Whitten (Apr 9)

This book is the sequel to the Foxglove King, a recent favorite of mine. After the events of the first book, Prince Bastian has overtaken the throne, choosing Lore to be his right hand man.

Together they plan to get rid of the rot from the sainted court and help the people in Dellaire. But not every noble is happy with what is happening, with the risk at war still at their doorstep.

As Lore's old friends start to pull away she starts to notice a different in Bastian as well as he becomes more calculating and cold. She needs to figure out what else is going with Bastian, before his coronation, so she can protect herself, him and the others in their country.

There are are obviously plenty of other books coming out, especially in the beginning parts of the year. This is just a small list of the ones I've very excited to read, and a few I have arcs of that I will be writing reviews for over the new month.

What books are you excited you excited to read next year?
