Hello Again Friends! I tried to mix up my reading a bit this month. Get some old spooky stories mixed with some rom coms and starting on my journey of reading and reviewing books with Diabetes rep in them. During this month I found another book I'm fully expecting to throw at my close friends and learned that Stephen King might not be for me.
What did you read this month that you enjoyed?
The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab
The Fragile Threads of Power is the start of a new trilogy by V.E. Schwab, that takes place in the same world as the Shades of Magic Trilogy.
What I really enjoyed about this book is you could start here (though I would always highly recommend to start with Shades of Magic.) The lovable idiots from Shades show up in this series, with enough back story covered that you don't feel behind.
Tes has the ability to see the threads of magic that connect things together. Working as a tinkerer, she makes money buy fixing various items in London. That is until a mysterious man walks through her door, begging her to fix an item that has a strong magical ability. While trying to fix it, Tes finds herself in the middle of two battling groups. Those who love the king, and those who do not.
Misery by Stephen King
As my first delve into Stephen King books it was recommended I read Misery. This story follows author Paul Sheldon, who has been in a terrible car accident and finds himself under the care of Annie Wilkes in her home in remote Colorado.
It starts to become clear the Annie has other plans, after reading his newest manuscript she demands him to write another story in his 'Misery' series, refusing to believe that he has killed off the main character.
As Annie becomes more and more unhappy with how Paul is acting he tries to figure out if he will ever make it out of the house alive or if this will be the end of the road for him.
A spooky read, that at times I felt was a little slow. The thriller elements were very well written though.
Wildfire by Hannah Grace
Wildfire is a novel that falls into the same world as 'Icebreaker'. Following the team's goalie Russ as he takes a job at a summer camp over the summer to make money.
The night before he leave, the hockey house has a party, where he meets Aurora. After spending the night together and her leaving before he could say goodbye he starts to believe all is lost.
Aurora is going back to the camp she was sent to growing up, with plans of finding herself in the California woods. When she gets to the camp she sees Russ, the hockey player she fell for but doesn't want to admit it.
Now they must work with the same group of children, while dealing with their feelings for each other and the biggest rule in the camp. "Employees can't fraternize with either other". Definitely an 18+ read for those who are interested.
The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
Coriolanus Snow is looking to get his family back on top after they've fallen into despair. When he is chosen to mentor a tribute in the 10th annual Hunger Games he sees this as his golden opportunity. Except his tribute is a female from District 12, a district that has never stood in a chance in the games.
Now Snow must find a way to keep Lucy Gray alive, while improving the Hunger Games as a whole. If he can get her to win, or at least not die right away, then he might be able to get a scholarship he needs to continue school.
Instead, he finds himself falling for the tribute, and is willing to do anything he can to keep her in the games. This will have consequences of its own, and put him in the middle of deciding is the Capital is right, or if the Districts are doing fine without them.
The Girls are Never Gone by Sarah Glenn Marsh
This book was the perfect way to end spooky season and then start taking about Type 1 Diabetes.
Dare runs a paranormal investigation podcast and finds herself accepting an internship at the Arrington Estate to help renovate the property but also learn more about it's dark history. Armed with ghost hunting equipment and her Diabetes service dog Waffles, Dare ends up in over her head with the spirit(s) that haunt the home.
She is determined to prove there that what is happening at the house as natural, but as she stays there longer she realizes that her and the other two girls interning are in danger. A definite spooky read that I'm excited to review of November!
A Curse For True Love by Stephanie Garber
This book is the third in a follow up trilogy of the Caraval series. This series follows Evangeline Fox as she tries to find the memories she has seemed to have lost.
Now a princess after being married to someone she can't remember who she is trying to convince herself she is in love with. At the same time, her King is determined to find the person who took Evangeline's memories, Jacks.
Jacks, who appears in the Caraval series, is the Prince of Hearts who is cursed to kill his true love with a kiss. Jacks is being hunted for what he has done to her, but Evangeline has a feeling he is more important to her than what is being told to her. Overall, I really enjoy this series and the world Caraval is in.
