(My) Favorite Songs of 2022

When deciding to blog again, I figured I'd share more about the hobbies and activities that effect me on a daily basis, not just the books I read or the events I attend for those books.

For those who know me for more than about 10 minutes, you'll know I love music. I listen constantly in my car and tend to find myself with 'song obsessions' that last for months.

In true internet millennial fashion, I partake in Spotify Wrapped, and usually its pretty accurate, except for one song that tends to be my 'comfort' song for Diabetes things, but more on that later.

So, for my honorary 'first' post on this blog, I decided to share with you some of my favorite songs of this year. Now, these song will not be for everyone, or maybe even most people who find their way to this blog. The songs may not have even come out this year, but the bands may have made their way into my life during 2022. Either way, I hope you find something you like (or at least get a little peek into my music taste).

Without further ado...

Just Pretend by Bad Omens

Bad Omens as a band has made their way into my heart and soul this year, with Like a Villain, Limits, and the song above, Just Pretend. Something about the variations in the singers vocal range with the powerful meaning behind the lyrics. *chefs kiss* Definitely a scream-sing my car song for me. 10/10 recommend checking them out.

Riptide by Beartooth

In a very opposite vein to the meaning behind Just Pretend, Riptide felt like an anthem for letting things go. Encouraging you to let things go, instead of dwelling in what is harming you. The beat is loud, the words are encouraging and overall just a well rounded rock song. It's nice to hear pop-punk/rock music have a positive meaning, and this song is really inspiring.

Don't Let the Lights Go Out by Panic! at the Disco

For anyone who has spoken to me for more than probably 5 minutes would know I love Panic! at the Disco. I saw them live this year and *swoon*. Of all the songs on their new album this one is just lyrically and musically beautiful to me. I've had a fun time watching them grow throughout the years. Viva Las Vengeance is also a great song and definitely something you can dance to in any mood.

Funeral Grey by Waterparks

Pop-punk goodness, with a fun chorus and beat. "I just want you to be the next mistake that I'm going to make" is seemingly heartbreaking and romantic and I just felt myself singing along to this song a lot. Waterparks is a fun band to follow and the honesty in their lyrics and videos is something I've always felt really connected to.

This is Why by Paramore

A song that sums up pretty much all my feelings about the last two years and in the epic return of one of my favorite bands I'm excited to see where Paramore goes from here. After seeing them live in November I feel like I've grown up with Hayley and connect with her on a lot of anxiety related topics. "One step beyond your door, it might as well have been a freefall" Just lovely writing by Hayley Williams again.

Now, I can probably go one for ages about music and everything it means to me. I could also probably list a bunch more songs, lyrics and meanings. Share the emotions they've put me through and what they remind me of, but that feels like a lot when trying to get comfortable with this new platform.

Let me know what you thought of this list OR even better, if you have any suggestions of music to check out.

Bye Friends!
