Well, since I missed the 6 month celebration my little blog, I figured it would only be right to participate in a bookish questionnaire to help everyone get to know me a bit better. So time for some (maybe) bookish hot takes.
Be sure to also check out some of 'throwback' blogs that will be coming out on Thursdays!
Have other questions? Deep thoughts? Bookish things you'd love to share? Make sure to comment at the end.
1. You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next?
All vibes. If I just read fantasy, I will usually go for a rom-com or something easier on the palate, but other times its just 'oh this came out I must read it right now'.
2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed?
It takes a lot for me to DNF a book, it has to be pretty horrendous, I'll usually just keep going and see if it gets better.
3. The end of the year is coming and you’re behind on your reading challenge, do you try to catch up? And if so, how?
In the past I've tried to catch up, usually I'll read graphic novels or something of that nature, but now I want to spend more time with the books I'm reading, so I'd rather just finish what I have going? Reading many doesn't always mean I'll remember it if I rushed.
4. The covers of a series you love do not match, how do you cope?
I think I prefer when they are shaped/sized the same more than anything. I am semi-okay with cover changes as long as its every book in the series, its a good Christmas idea. What I really don't like is the movie tie in covers, with real faces on them.
5. Everyone and their mother loves a book that you do not. Who do you bond with over your shared feelings?
If its a really popular book? Probably just some of my closer friends, my parents hear a lot of my bookish (or TV) show rants when I'm not vibing with something and just need to tell someone.
6. You’re reading a book in public and you’re about to start crying. How do you deal?
Many a tear has been shed while I'm reading, public or not. The worst is while on break at work and trying to hide that you may have been crying. I usually put the book down and try to switch to something else to fill time.
7. The sequel to a book you loved just came out but you’ve forgotten a lot of what happens. Are you going to reread it?
It is hard to reread longer books (ask me about how I've never finish Eragon) but I think now with the internet you can easily get a description that will help. So no, no rereading for me.
8. You do not want anyone to borrow your books, how do you politely say no when someone asks?
I have books that are 'no borrows' because they are important to me, but otherwise I'm usually willing to loan something out if I trust the person. There are definitely people I would say no to.
9. You have picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over this reading slump?
I will usually switch what form of media I'm using, so I'll find a TV show or movie or something else to distract me for a bit until I'm in the mood to read again.
10. There are so many books coming out that you are dying to read, how many do you end up buying?
I try to prioritize what I will most likely read first, so maybe one or two. Then once I'm done with those I will seek out the others.
11. After you purchase all of these books that you’re dying to read how long do they sit on your shelves before you get to them?
-laughs in a TBR that is a bookshelf- It can be instantly or forever. It depends on if its something I've been highly anticipating or if I'm even in the mood to read it.
Well, I hope that gave people some insight on me as a reader!
