As you have all probably learned by now I read a lot, even though some of the books I don't write full reviews for on this blog. I figured sharing a little wrap up of what I read in the past month would be fun.
So here is my monthly wrap up of January 2023, if I plan on reviewing the book with a whole post it will be noted.
Nick and Charlie by Alice Oseman
This book was a solid 4 stars from me. I love Nick and Charlie in Heartstopper and would continue to read any content Alice puts out about them. It was a novella so it was short, fluffy and just a very quick and easy read.
Though you don't need to read Heartstopper to understand this book, I would recommend Heartstopper anyway. (or watch the show on Netflix!)
You will hearing more about Nick and Charlie soon, so be on a look out for that!
Seven Percent of Ro Devereux
We already know a lot about this one since it has a whole blog dedicated to it already! I loved this book and gave it 5 stars!
It is techy and cute, while having really good lessons. I love the relationship dynamic between the two main characters and how they come to an understanding by the end of the book.
If you want to know more, there is a full review for this gem, which was a debut released earlier this year. I highly recommend it!
Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo
Another book that has been featured, and an author you will probably continue to hear about because I love her dearly.
This book is the sequel to her first adult book Ninth House. It's spooky, full of magic and secrets and really kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the story.
I like Leigh's writing style, her morally grey characters and all of the powerful moments that happen throughout the book.
Another solid 4 star read.
Gwen and Art are Not in Love by Lex Croucher
I read this story as an advanced copy on Net Galley and really really loved it. The book doesn't come out until later this year but the story was a wild ride full of love, shenanigans and sword fights.
It has a really fun twist on the King Arthur legend, while also taking place decades after that all would have happened. Showing the rulers down the line, and how they are impacted by the events of the past.
There is a full review being prepped for this book! So look out for that soon!
4 stars for this one and its fun retelling!
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace
Am I semi ashamed of how much I adored this hockey player/figure skater enemies to lovers story? Maybe.
Did I love every second of reading it and found myself staying up much too late after work to keep reading it?
Most definitely.
This book is another 3.5-4 stars. It had warm moments and just enough twists to keep me on my toes. It was a romance, though the two cants stand each other at the beginning. A series of events leads them into running into each other more and then magical love story.
I liked the sort of found family of the hockey team for her and how the story was just easy to read.
Chaos Theory by Nic Stone
This book is heavy on mental illness and how it impacts people differently.
The two main characters have their own struggles and desires and how they come together and interact is something I found fascinating.
This book doesn't come out until the end of this month and I fully plan on writing it its own blog. This book deserves it.
This book comes out Feb 28,2023! So be sure to check it out and blog I plan to write before then.
5/5 stars for this emotional story.
Well, we'll see how many books get read in the short month of February, but currently have a few advanced copies and anticipated releases I'm really excited for.
